Aadhira Runjhun (AKA runeflowers) is a transfemme polymath filtering her musings and thoughts on her queerness through a vibrant array of danceable beats and pointed yet darkly funny lyrics.

Her story begins as a teen growing up in Houston, Texas, learning how to play the violin while messing around with beats in GarageBand. Having fallen in love with classic rock bands such as Queen and Pink Floyd, she taught herself to sing by belting along to her favorite songs from them.

In 2020, Aadhira moved to Philadelphia to study music technology at Temple University, where she would grow her audio engineering and music production skills, exploring a wide variety of genres and producing several albums worth of music, each one representing an improvement in her production and songwriting prowess.

Then in 2023, while in the middle of crafting a massive indie audio drama pilot for which she also wrote, voice acted in, and directed, she produced the first song for what would end up becoming her debut rap album, KATABASIS, released under the project of ghostweaver. This concept album contained a series of deeply personal diary entries about her struggles with gender and dysphoria, expressed through atmospheric, experimental, and creative multi-genre songs. Over the course of the next two years, she’d record thirteen tracks in total, tracing her journey from denial and dysphoria to acceptance and being ready for change.

Now she enters a new creative chapter under the moniker runeflowers, which is a complete from the ground up reinvention of her as a musician. On her upcoming concept album, Aadhira delves into a new electronic and pop-oriented sound while refusing to lose her atmospheric production, soaring voice, and her love of experimentation with genres, instruments, and effects. Using this new sound and her typical witty songwriting, she explores transfemininity through the lens of two deeply flawed trans girls at different stages of their lives and transitions. Her inspirations range from underscores, to MARINA, to Imogen Heap, Magdalena Bay, Quadeca, Ninajirachi, Quadeca, and Charli xcx.
